Reproduction and Artificial Insemination Practicum

Yesterday we did a lab that started at 06.00. it's very sad. Reproduction and Artificial Insemination Practicum. Practicum begins with Artificial  insemination in sheep in the cage.

First, prepared the equipment to be used, such as an artificial vagina.

Next take the male sperm will be taken. Females used to provoke lust ram. After sperm obtained sheep, brought to labortorium sperm for examination. Examination categorized into two stages, the macroscopic and microscopic examination.

Macroscopic examination consisting of odor, color, consistency, pH, and volume. Examination mikrokopis is mass movement, mortality, percentage of life and death, and abnormalities.

When the examination of sperm, I experienced something very embarrassing or rather disgusting. Laboratory microscope only pick one, so its use alternately so use only 30 seconds per child. Because I do not understand, then I examined a second time, but the professor yelled at me. I was embarrassed, I was annoyed on myself. I do not hate lecturer, but I hate my behavior was stupid. I hope this is the last time I did something stupid and wish me a lesson for the future.

After receiving the data from the inspection. Then sperm diluted by using buffer. It aims to increase the volume and retain sperm vitality. Sperm were then taken back to the stable, fatherly injected into ewes. Ewes brought out a cage, with scope vagina, vagina opened up to see the cervix. Insemination gun put to insert sperm into the vagina ewe.

 Artificial insemination in sheep has been completed.
